Used for important religious ceremonies.At present these are used in many ways such as for tablecloths, turbans, scarves and cloths for decorating houses.


All women in Laos have worn the Lao skirt as part of their traditional culture. The characteristic of the Lao skirt is a top half of woven silk or cotton with a wide decorative border at the lower half of the skirt.


All men used to wear these in important religious ceremonies. Now they are not popular.


Used for covering people while they sleep. These are made of half silk and half cotton.

Used for covering mattresses on beds.

Used to cover body when you feel cold. People in the northern part like to use these because of cold weather.

Beside all these exhibits, the Lao Textile Museum has many types of wedding suits and palace clothes, some over 200 years old.
