About Kanchana

Archaeologists, silk experts and antique collectors have been found out Lao antique silk fabrics in a short time period.
Most of them are familiar with the fabrics of the many ethnic groups in Asia countries,
but some of them have not seen some fabrics of Taideng,
Taiphouan ethnic groups of Laos.
When they discovered these textiles, they said that their styles of fabrics and techniques are different from many Asia countries.
The outstanding characteristics of Taideng and Taiphouan fabrics are in the designs, which depict letters and tales concerning the history of Lao culture.

The archaeologists, silk experts and antique collectors have highlighted the fabrics of Lao ethnic groups as having great heritage and cultural value.
However, these types of fabrics have been left in a few numbers because some foreign antique collectors and hunters bought nearly all of them.
Beside this some fabrics were burned with dead body of some ethnic groups and some ancestors divided fabrics to be heritage for family members.
These reasons some beautiful fabrics have left a few numbers in Laos.
Fortunately, the Lao Textile Museum is the first place of Laos, where it has conserved many types of fabrics for researching and preserving for next generation.
