Most of the Taideng ethnic group settled in the northern part of Laos. Most of them live in Houaphan province. Most of the Taiphouan ethnic group is located at Xieng Khuang, Vientiane province. The two groups of people have a tradition of breeding silkworms, weaving and dying using natural colours going back for many years. Their techniques of weaving and drying natural colour have continued until now. The characteristic colours of Taideng and Taiphouan ethnic groups are red and blue.
